Sick, Sicker, and Sickest

Have you looked at the face of sickness lately? Well, here it is. After her third day of fever and chills, headaches and sore throats, I finally took her to the doctor. (In my defense, Phx had the same thing last week and is just fine now. I thought this too would pass.) She was diagnosed with her first ever case of strep throat.

Under the circumstances, I thought it appropriate to stay at home and watch the Jungle Book. There's very little that a bear and an orangutan dancing to jazz can't make better.

Phx has taken to calling himself Baloo. Every day I have to ask him who he is today: Phoenix, Baloo, Loafie, or Toad. So that accounts for sick and sicker. Tomorrow I'm heading out on a 6:00 a.m. flight to Boston to check in on sickest.

Brownies

I woke up from a short nap this afternoon to find this in the kitchen. Stayc had made brownies with the kids and they were in the throes of "cleaning up." Uh-huh.

Get it all in while you can, little man.

Getting cleaned up.

Oh, and if you're wondering, the brownies were delicious.

Snow!

Our first *real* snow of the winter. Thankfully, it was gone by about 2 p.m. No kidding. I love that about Kentucky. For a first-timer, Phx learned quickly how to make snowballs . . . and get sneaky about throwing them.

A romp in the snow in an eclectic outfit she put together. I don't even try anymore.

And to think, this is the same kid who just two days earlier threw up all over our couch, rug, blanket, library book, and dad. Not a pretty scene.

Putting the finishing touches on the snowman.

Lu got a couple of snowballs in too.

Our little snow angel.

The Crafting Continues

In an attempt to get the absolute *most* out of our crayons, this last week we gathered up the bits and pieces and made mini crayon muffins out of them.

While Lu worked hard, Phx played hard. Oh, umm, maybe it was Linxy and Loafy. I'm not sure.

After baking in the oven for 10 minutes or so, THIS . . .

. . . became this. (Also note in the previous picture Courtney's and Aaron's oh-so-cute "Save-the-Date" card, which we received last week.)

More Dinosaur Pictures

Oh for goodness sake . . . it's like I'm taking requests now.

One for me . . .
One for the dino. So good at sharing.

Twas the Night Before Christmas . . .

. . . and yadda, yadda . . . you get the idea. Here is the scene post-Santa but pre-children. So pristine, so idyllic.

And then comes Christmas morning. I love it when toys get REALLY played with.

The train/dinosaur table. Santa made this one with his own two hands. Then he enlisted my . . . er, Mrs. Claus's help in painting the top. I have it on good authority that they enjoyed it immensely.

The Year of the Dinosaur

I've been bad about blogging these last two weeks. I just downloaded about 100 pictures from both cameras and only then realized that I hadn't posted anything since Christmas. I guess we've just been enjoying vacation and the company of family. So until I get going again, here's one of Phx on Christmas morn with the apatasarous Santa brought him. Oh, how he loves his dinosaurs. Scott just gave him a new one tonight that he had stashed away. Phx grabbed it with delight and said, "A brachiasarous!" And it was.

The Other One

Here's the picture Scott liked better. You can't please everyone.
